So it looks like the Your Party conference has quick descended into the factionalism so beloved of the Left.... Given the focus on YP as a new Left alternative, one might have hoped they could have focussed on the problem at hand not the infighting & rivalry that seems to be playing out at their conference.

#politics #YourParty

@ChrisMayLA6 The original 5 MPs have not even maintained trust between themselves. It wasn't hard, because substantive ideology, policy & organisational issues didn't have to be resolved at this stage.

All they had to do was stick to whatever common ground they could find between them, and work openly with each other. But instead they have repeatedly stabbed each other and cudgeled each other.

In the midst of it, there is either extreme political incompetence or extreme bad faith. Or both.

@2legged @ChrisMayLA6 I think it’s about who gets to be king of the ashes, or perhaps Queen, I’m sticking with the Greens. They already have all the democratic structures in place for deciding policy, they’ve always had a socialist programme because social justice and climate justice are the same thing. This is kind of the last twitch of the tail of the old guard, bless them.

@francis @ChrisMayLA6 I really wanted #YourParty to flourish, because the principle of working class organisation keeps left politics anchored in the material realities of ordinary lives.

But this was the last chance for that tradition to have a significant political voice. And I think they have blown it.

The Greens look set to have the field largely to themselves. I hope they can seize this historic opportunity.
