Capitalism Has Failed As Badly As Anything Can Fail

"People tell me, 'Capitalism isn't perfect, but it's the best system we've seen.'
It's literally killing us. It's brought us to the brink of extinction by environmental collapse or nuclear armageddon."

@francis Ugh. The thing that annoys me most about the "Capitalism isn't perfect, but it's the best system we've seen" line is that it presents the world as a single homogenous system. The things that have allowed us to survive capitalism (e.g. public services, charities, co-ops, altruism of any kind) are not capitalist. They exist *despite* capitalism!

(I recognize all of that ^^ is an oversimplification. But I felt the need to vent about the standard over-oversimplification)
