@stupidjim Literally nothing changes without violence and never has. But we were never taught that in school. My GenX ass bought all the bullshit lies our textbooks taught us, and didn’t learn Howard Zinn and other actual history until much, much later.
I have a bachelors but was 50 before I learned about the Tulsa massacre, or the fact that the Black Panthers are both the only reason we have school lunches today and the reason Reagan and the GOP supported common sense gun control.
We were carefully taught the non-violence training marchers at Selma went though, but not the firearms training or the self defense forces that were organized.
We were taught “I have a dream” instead of all the rest.
So yes, put on our vest and boots and destroy the Empire. No one in power ever surrendered power or stopped oppressing others because someone asked politely.
@blogdiva @DaywalkingRedhead @stupidjim@mastodon.social see also slow violence. Policies that kill, injure or starve. Healthcare and housing being the most obvious. What Engels called “social murder”.
Sanctions on poor countries are just a cheap way to war on their civilian populations.
The people who do this to us never face any consequences.
