The thrust of the article is that the current perception that Israel controls the US is actually relatively new. This also means that we don't have to look at it as a monolith and feel helpless. There were many times in the past it was reined in and we can argue that it can be put back in its box without expecting US hegemony to have to fall first.

I agree that the US is boss in the relationship, primarily due to Trump holding the funding purse.
Imo, the fact that each massively serves the other's interests enables them to play out squabbles & sychophancy that have the effect of buying time to pursue their own agendas.
Currently, eg, Netanyahu is preventing Trump's Gaza committee from entering Gaza.
The saga proceeds, w/ Netanyahu continuing the settler-colonial project
