All in on the deal... unless you're Palestinian

Analysis: Trump wants Turkiye & Qatar on his board. Netanyahu doesn't.

"A silent battle over powers, mandates & decision-making authority [centres] on who will actually govern Gaza & who will play only an advisory role."

"Israel is expected to attempt to dilute or sidestep the US plan".

"If Netanyahu wants us to deal with Gaza, it will be on our terms" ~US official

Re "Israel doesn’t have the chokehold some folks..."

I agree that the US is boss in the relationship, primarily due to Trump holding the funding purse.

Imo, the fact that each massively serves the other's interests enables them to play out squabbles & sychophancy that have the effect of buying time to pursue their own agendas.

Currently, eg, Netanyahu is preventing Trump's Gaza committee from entering Gaza.

The saga proceeds, w/ Netanyahu continuing the settler-colonial project

@DrALJONES

The thrust of the article is that the current perception that Israel controls the US is actually relatively new. This also means that we don't have to look at it as a monolith and feel helpless. There were many times in the past it was reined in and we can argue that it can be put back in its box without expecting US hegemony to have to fall first.

You're very kind, Francis, thanks so much for the synopsis 🙏
