These people have made an immeasurable contribution to our society, to our economy and our culture. Be thankful that Britain welcomed their families. Be proud to be that country.

'No member of the press should be threatened, harassed, attacked, arrested, or killed for doing their job.'

Unless they report US war crimes, Secretary of State?

We have the most lawless, incompetent government for probably 100 years and the fools still peddle this nonsense.

@LucidWhim No she represents hard working decent tax payers who expect borders to be controlled and law & order maintained.

Suella Braverman does NOT represent me, my family, my friends, my colleagues ( past or present ) or any caring, compassionate British person. Braverman does NOT even represent decent people in the Tory party like Sir Roger Gale.

I’ve never supported BOE independence, even Thatcher the Milk Snatcher didn’t. New Labour brought it in without any discussion.

Setting interest rates etc is a political as well as an economic decision.

Politicians should own decisions made. twitter.com/fisherandrew79/sta

@NoContextBrits That so many British politicians, media 'personalities', newspapers editors, & citizens, who are rightly proud of all those who sacrificed so much during WWII, see nothing wrong with parrotting today, the kind of grotesque rhetoric that fascists used in the 1930s. 🇬🇧

Some dude got so mad about drag queens that he FIREBOMBED a DONUT SHOP. Thanks, right-wing transphobe fuckheads! twitter.com/Mediaite/status/15

@RMTunion's Mick Lynch condemns the language used by Suella Braverman to describe refugees fleeing war and famine.

@80_mcswan Only in certain areas. Main problem is promotion of uncaccountable far-right mouthpieces on supposedly serious shows, most recently Claire Fox on Daily Politics. Should get respectable left and right wing voices who don't deny facts.

No she isn’t. People dislike her because she has no empathy or compassion. She’s full of hate, she spreads division and conflict. She makes people turn on each other, she rips communities apart. She’s a far-right, nasty piece of work. That’s why people don’t like her. twitter.com/adambienkov/status

@francis Ugh. The thing that annoys me most about the "Capitalism isn't perfect, but it's the best system we've seen" line is that it presents the world as a single homogenous system. The things that have allowed us to survive capitalism (e.g. public services, charities, co-ops, altruism of any kind) are not capitalist. They exist *despite* capitalism!

(I recognize all of that ^^ is an oversimplification. But I felt the need to vent about the standard over-oversimplification)
