Definitely. Plus the later versions with the autoboxing (iir the name correctly) and (finally) lambdas is quite mature. Took a long time to get there though.

I'd still stay away from committee-led massive consultancy fees nonsense like EJBs though.

Just typing all those curly braces, and everything is a noun, memories make me shudder. :)

Although - Java or the JVM? There are a lot of interesting things that use the JVM.

Remember, we are paying for this man’s £3.7m bonus by way of the energy bill support scheme.

Wouldn’t it be better to stop paying obscene bonuses and stakeholder dividends, and permanently reduce bills instead?

Renationalise energy now! twitter.com/bbcnews/status/163

@elan Originally it was the only thing you could do if you didn't want to Microsoft. Now, I suspect there's millions of lines of stuff and it's become millennial COBOL.

"The BBC photoshopped Corbyn's hat on Newsnight to make him look dangerous and it was very wrong and biased."

True, true

But no-one I know has watched Newsnight in years.

The fact that most of the people I talk to know damn well what went on and don't trust the BBC news coverage I think means we should just stop giving them oxygen.

I wish more people understood that "I want the computer to generate a natural language text that sounds like a plausible answer to a question about x" and "I want the computer to answer a question about x" are two very different problems.

It’s no surprise that women and black people have been dying at the hands of this corrupt establishment.

We can’t expect an I institutionally racist, misogynistic and homophobic Met to protect us.

I try to imagine what it would take to change the party, with most of the new rw MPs probably unmovable for twenty years. All that time and effort to THEN do something good with it? Nope. twitter.com/delhi_dave/status/

It's almost inconceivable that the legalised kidnapping of often teenage girls in the US, as described here by @ParisHilton, still goes on today. I can only imagine the fear these people must experience and this abhorrent practice must finally end, now.

It seems my earlier video, about warmongering @Keir_Starmer, has raised the centrist gammonati's juices to boiling point. The issue they face, however, is that NATO shagging, apartheid-embracing, Blair-loving Starmer's chequered record evidences he's certainly no friend to peace.

MI5 does only in-person spying within the UK. It has 5,400 employees and a budget of £3.8 billion.

Yet any suggestion it actually runs agents or spies on anybody is always met with online ridicule and cries of "tinfoil conspiracy".

What the f*** do you think they do all day?

Should Tony Blair stand trial at The Hague for his decision to invade Iraq?

And does our political conversation really acknowledge what happened in our name?
