Imagine if YouTube was shut down.

It would be a literal tragedy for the human race. Billions of hours worth of creativity would disappear in an instant.

"That would never happen!" some believe.

But it already has.

Remember Google+? All of it's gone forever.

Or remember all that media stored on MySpace? It's vanished.

We must stop depending on Big Tech to archive our data. Their mandate is to profit off our data, not preserve it.

@oldbooksmell Honestly I could make an argument about how similar those are. :) Because language snobbery is used to propagate so many other bigotries. Landlords and cops protect the interests of people at the top of the hierarchy and so does prescriptivism because of all the racism, classism, ableism, sexism, etc. that is inherent in it.

Working peoples living standards have had to be fought for

Each generational improvement has been down to standing on the shoulders of past generation heroes like these

We need to provide strong shoulders for the generation to come

It is kind of wild that MPs from Conservative party, which self-presents as an establishment party — the party that upholds the rule of law and the institutions of the British State — just expressed confidence in a Prime Minister who broke the law while in office.

Hey, uh, cis people in my life: I'm going need y'all to spread the word that the hardcore Evangelical faction in the GOP in the US (and elsewhere) is making disconcertingly genocide-y noises about trans people, because the media sure as hell isn't.

(I'm not kidding. Do this)

So in the last week they've called themselves "Sex Realists", said they plan to ban all transition whether it's good or not, said the reason they're doing it is because we're a problem to how they think society should work, and publicly aligned with "Christian fascists"

COME ON

"United" by throwing out people that want change and don't want war mongering, poverty and hunger.

The choice is clearer than ever before:

Divided Tories propping up Boris Johnson with no plan to tackle the issues you are facing.

Or a united Labour Party with a plan to fix the cost of living crisis and restore trust in politics.

Labour will get Britain back on track.

The that ran out of food - because people can no longer afford to donate bit.ly/3NqMims

For the first time they've had to turn away hungry people.

After years of studying it, I believe that cryptocurrency is an inherently right-wing, hyper-capitalistic technology built primarily to amplify the wealth of its proponents through a combination of tax avoidance, diminished regulatory oversight and artificially enforced scarcity.

10 years ago Tor Books dropped DRM on all their ebooks.

Tor's still publishing books without DRM and doing just fine.
