PAL opposes the privatisation of, or the transfer of existing public services, land or property to private ownership, or to social enterprises or ‘arms-length’ management organisations which are the first steps to their privatisation.

Massive investment in clean energy is just common sense.

Renewables are nine times cheaper than fossil fuels and, well… renewable.

@PoliticsJOE_UK Go to jail. Do not pass go, do not collect £400,000.

Today 70,000 UCU members begin historic strike action across every university in the UK.

Given we get pay docked and we all are experiencing a cost of living crisis we are not doing this lightly.

Stand with us.

"No-one wants strikes" is very different from saying "No-one supports strikes".

"ok. So you blame the government, you say you don't blame the nurses. So in a word, yes or no, do you support them walking out?"

Anneliese Dodds: "Well look, no one supports strikes"

Speechless.

Yet another way in which the conservatives have trashed our NHS.

But monopoly and monopsony are closely related phenomena. Monopsonies use control over buyers - the fact that we all have Prime - to exert control over sellers. This lets them force unfavorable terms onto sellers, like deeper discounts. In theory, this is good for use consumers, because prices go down. In practice, though...

Most of us have #AmazonPrime. Seriously - 82% of American households! Prime users only shop on Amazon. Seriously. More than 90% of Prime members start their search on Amazon, and if they find what they're looking for, they stop there, too.

If you are a seller, you *have* to be on Amazon, otherwise no one will find your stuff and that means they won't buy it. This is called a #monopsony, the obscure inverse of #monopoly, where a buyer has power over sellers.

In Bezos's original plan, the company called "Amazon" was called "Relentless," due to its ambition to be "Earth's most customer-centric company." Today, Amazon is an enshittified endless scroll of paid results, where winning depends on ad budgets, not quality.

Writing in Jeff Bezos's newspaper *The Washington Post*, veteran tech reporter Geoffrey Fowler reports on the state of his boss's "relentless" commitment to customer service. The state is grim.

For the last time: Matt Hancock is not a celebrity.

He was an awful health Secretary, famous for mismanaging the UK’s response to the pandemic and getting caught having an affair.

That’s not celebrity, that’s lamentable.

Elon Musk is running Twitter into the ground.

Sam Bankman-Fried’s FTX was outed as a Ponzi scheme.

Jeff Bezos is touting his philanthropy as Amazon lays off thousands.

The billionaires will not save us.

They're tearing society down — and we're all the collateral.

No he's not forgiven.
He presided over the dead of tens of thousands without remorse.
His PR and £400,000 fee may have softened his image with a small number of the public & lots of bots; but the man himself will remain a monster.

The RW media pillory Remainers for their glee at seeing things fall apart because of Brexit.

It's not glee. Nobody wants Britain to fail.

No, it's relief. The relief of the perpetually gaslit, discovering that reality matches their worldview, not all the lies they've been fed.
