Dev env barfing over https and docker gets in the way. Finally noticed the code I’ve been fighting with was setting the URL and I could wrangle it so processing would finish properly. Weeks of head scratching and trying different approaches.
When we reach the end an order is created from the information captured via the provider’s external API. That was what I was hand crafting when I knew “it should just work”.

Earlier today I edited my (small) set of Stack Overflow posts to add the sentence "I do not consent to my words being used to train OpenAI" to the end. Within hours, all these edits were reversed and I got a warning email for "removing or defacing content". I did not remove any content. If this small sentence is "defacing", it is a very minor defacement. In no way was the experience of other users made worse by me adding one sentence.
To Stack Overflow, you are not a person. You are "content".

"This is enshittification: Surpluses are first directed to users; then, once they're locked in, surpluses go to suppliers; then once they're locked in, the surplus is handed to shareholders and the platform becomes a useless pile of shit. From mobile app stores to Steam, from Facebook to Twitter, this is the enshittification lifecycle."

Years of watching @janellecshane mess around with these models has made it just so clear to me that any benefit from these models comes with (a) skill and mastery in using them for the right job (b) bucket loads of human curation.
It's worth patiently and persistently pushing back against AI hype in your worksplace to try and counter the bubble evangelists
- Generative AI can't do facts
- Generative AI can't reason
- Unless a model tells us what it's trained on, we should assume it's participated in the largest copyright theft in history
- No incremental improves are going to change this
@randahl it kinda shows how feeble the whole thing is, regardless of which mask is being worn.
I missed yesterday’s and it was a doozy. #CellTower 734

“Your friendly reminder that Zionists have been stealing and appropriating Palestinian history since before the Nakba. Memoricide is real and there is a reason why Zionists destroyed tens of thousands of Palestinian books and historical records and hid others behind closed doors.”

@blogdiva @DaywalkingRedhead @stupidjim@mastodon.social see also slow violence. Policies that kill, injure or starve. Healthcare and housing being the most obvious. What Engels called “social murder”.
Sanctions on poor countries are just a cheap way to war on their civilian populations.
The people who do this to us never face any consequences.
